Cippenham Sports secured a point in a thrilling 4-4 draw against highflying Slough Heating Reserves on Saturday.
Cippenham carved out the early chances forcing the Slough Heating goalkeeper into making a smart save and a timely block. Pete Collins in the Cippenham goal then tipped a speculative effort onto the woodwork before Jamie Dunning drilled a shot against the woodwork when clean through. Cippenham however took the lead when they were awarded a penalty for handball which Karl Oliver duly tucked away. Slough Heating drew level from a delicate lob although Cippenham were convinced the effort had more than a suspicion of offside about it. Cippenham fell behind to a neat finish and then shot themselves in the foot when a defensive error gifted Slough Heating a third as the half drew to a close.
Cippenham pulled a goal back early in the second half in comical fashion when Dunning’s shot was blocked by the Slough Heating keeper but the rebound struck an on rushing defender and rolled over the line. Ben Hancock headed over and Dunning drove a shot into the side netting as Cippenham piled on the pressure. Slough Heating however, restored there two goal lead against the run of play with a crisply struck half volley. Cippenham reduced the deficit when Joshua Warren who had bossed the midfield all day set up Dunning who coolly slotted home. Collins then made a superb save when Cippenham were caught out at he back and they were fortunate when a Slough Heating player blazed his follow up shot wide. In the dying minutes Cippenham won a corner and everyone piled into the box including Collins. Hancock’s bullet header was dramatically flicked home by McPherson to ensure Cippenham a share of the spoils.
