Cippenham Sports slumped to a bitterly disappointing 5-1 defeat against Windsor Great Park on Saturday.

Buoyant from last weekend’s excellent win Cippenham faced a Windsor Great Park side on an impressive eight game unbeaten run. However it was Cippenham who dominated proceedings with Simon Murtagh and Karl Oliver pulling the strings in midfield. The normally prolific Michael Bevan outpaced the Windsor defence only to drill his shot straight at the Windsor keeper. Bevan then raced onto a lovely through ball but this time he drove his shot wide. Jamie Dunning eventually gave Cippenham the lead from close range after following up on a blocked Bevan effort. Windsor struck the woodwork on one of there rare sorties forward but Cippenham continued to carve out openings. Bevan spurned another opportunity when his attempted lob bounced harmlessly wide and Dunning went close with a curling effort. Windsor drew level against the run of play just before the break when Cippenham switched off at a corner. Although Cippenham keeper Pete Collins flapped at the inviting cross ultimately it was the unmarked free header that cost them dearly.

The second half was truly forgettable as Windsor stepped up a gear and Cippenham simply fell apart losing there shape and cohesion. Cippenham could point to Windsor’s second goal looking suspiciously offside but it was the display that was most disappointing. Keith Oswald had a header cleared off the line and Ben Hancock’s sweetly struck rebound hammered a bemused Windsor keeper in the chest, a foot either way and Cippenham would have been back in the game. However football is a cruel game and Windsor raced away to extend there lead with a neat finish. Windsor killed the game off with a breakaway fourth goal and a clumsy challenge from Collins late on, resulted in a Windsor spot kick which was tucked away with aplomb.
